Two years ago at 5:30 AM my husband Matthew & I embarked on another journey together… having our second child. We had a scheduled C-section and it was very strange to us to get up and head to the hospital knowing our son would be here by 8:00 AM. I’m not going to lie, having only a daughter up until that point terrified me a little bit to have a son. Not that I was upset to have a boy or anything (of course all I was concerned with was that the baby was healthy) it was that up until that point, I was such a girl mom. Give me dance class, arts and crafts & playgrounds with hopscotch designs and I’m a pro.. but with a little boy? Now that was were my husband was the pro. Little did I know that this baby boy was going to change my world forever. My days are now filled with trucks, choo-choos, collecting rocks & of course some dolls and dance parties, too!
Since the moment Logan Matthew was born, I knew he was going to be our greatest adventure. We thought we had it easy because he was such a mellow infant. He was so content sitting in his swing watching his big sister play all day, we thought we had it made. Two kids… easy peasy. No sooner we finished that thought and we were already eating those words. Now I’m sure most parents of multiple children do this, but we found ourselves constantly comparing Logan’s development to that of his big sister’s at that age. He should be doing this already… he should have already been doing that. It was pretty much the moment we thought he should have already been crawling that he decided to crawl & oh, get up and walk about two weeks later. Yup we’ve been chasing Logan since he was 10 months old and haven’t sat down since!
For Logan’s birthday pictures I wanted to capture his personality & his love for the outdoors. Most of his props we actually had lying around the house (I did order the adorable felt bonfire from Etsy, though!) For only being two years old, Logan has such a strong & vibrant personality. He will do anything to make someone laugh & that includes pretending to get hurt immediately followed by his famous catch-phrase, “I’m okaayyyyy”. He loves music, dancing & reading books. He adores his big sister & thinks having slumber parties with her is the best thing in the world. His overly-cheesey smile lights up the room & my heart and his hugs make even the worst days seem okay. While I started this adventure scared to be out of my comfort zone, I thank God every day for blessing me with a beautiful, LOVING, healthy little boy. I am better person because of him… I am a better MOM because of him.
YUP 😛 That’s Logan!
