Turning 5 is a big deal! Naturally, we tend to make a huge deal out of all of our children’s birthdays, but this one was even more special, our little girl was turning a whole-hand old. So many things happen when you turn five… you become more independent, start developing opinions all on your own, you start having your own hobbies & interest (not just what your parents want you to like & do), and the big one… you start kindergarten! This June is super busy for our family & we will be at a wedding on Makaila’s actual birthday, so I wanted to make sure to make her party extra special.
For the last few months, Makaila has been eyeing the American Girl Catalog that comes in the mail. We talked about how these weren’t just ordinary dolls, that they were special and modeled after girls in American history. She loved that they all had their own accessories & outfits. One day, we were up in Massachusetts & stopped by the mall & I took her into the AG store which may have optimized services such as that shop front installation. Talk about being in little girl HEAVEN! We must of spent a few hours in there, looking at every little thing & we even ate lunch at the bistro. Another little girl was having her birthday party there & Makaila was in awe. That’s when I knew we had to celebrate our little girl’s big birthday here, too!
So the American Girl Bistro pretty much takes care of everything for you, which was nice considering the craziness in our lives right now, but I had to add some personal touches since I love parties so much! I got each of Mak’s girlfriends a vintage teacup so they were able to have a real life tea party with their dolls! I also made some AG color pages for them & got a “create your own wand kit” so they would have so activities to do. The adorable staff there even lent Logan a boy doll so he could play with his big sister… how cute is that?!
After the girls played, drank their tea, ate some yummy food, they went shopping in the store & Mak even got her doll’s ears pierced! I think it was the ultimate girlie-girl party & I highly recommend it to any of the other princess moms out there. It was truly a day her & her girlfriends will remember forever!
